This workflow builds and delivers a fully automated, AI-curated sports newsletter for any team or topic you choose — complete with AI-generated images.
> ⚠️ Self-hosted only: This workflow uses the @n8n/n8n-nodes-langchain.googleGemini community node for image generation, so it requires a self-hosted n8n instance. A workflow image is included above since previews don't render for community nodes.
Who's it for
Sports clubs, fan communities, marketers, and content creators who want a hands-off branded email digest for a specific team or sport (e.g., "University of Florida Football" or "Atlanta Falcons").
How it works
- A weekly Schedule Trigger (Friday 9 AM) starts the run
- Five sources are fetched in parallel: Reddit, Google News RSS, Yahoo Sports RSS, NCAA.com RSS, and BBC Sport RSS
- Each source is normalized to a common schema, merged, deduplicated, and filtered to the last 60 days
- Seven articles are selected (at least one per source where available)
- GPT-4o-mini writes a headline, two-sentence summary, and "why it matters" note for each article as structured JSON
- Gemini 2.5 Flash generates images for the top two articles, which are uploaded to your WordPress media library
- Everything is assembled into a responsive HTML email and sent via Microsoft Outlook

- Open the Config — Topic & Recipients node and set your
topic,subreddit, andrecipient_email - Add credentials: Reddit OAuth2, OpenAI, Google Gemini (PaLM API), WordPress Basic Auth, and Microsoft Outlook OAuth2
- Activate the workflow
